One Challenge

I believe a challenge that will be faced by my family and friends within the next 4 years, and beyond , is the challenge of racial prejudice, and bias. Though this issue isnt as prevalent and big as it has been for generations before us, and even though we've obviously made a great im provement seeing as though we have an African American President of the United States, racism and prejudice, is far from being dead. Personally it has affected me in my life a great amount of times, as well as my friends and family. Whether its in the judicial system, job market, or some other kind of setting, I've seen examples of it time after time again. And its not only African Americans as myself that deal with this problem, Middle Eastern individuals, Homosexual people, everyone is subject to the hate, and its a nationwide epidemic. This is an injustice because we've come too far in this country, for people to still have such closed minded views. And no matter how much people try and say its not a big problem, and the issues fading away, examples come up everyday like things such as the Jena 6 incident, or the plot the Neo-Nazis had to kill President Obama, this problem is far from solved. But i believe we as a people, we as American citizens can help make a difference, and corrent the problem by leading by example. Opening our minds and educating the ignorant. Whether thats just by takin to people, or getting involved with certain groups that also ty and support this, we can make things better and continue to make progress by living our lives to where we really do treat every individual as an equal, and see ourselves more as Americans, rather than by our color, beliefs, or sexual orientation. We have to lead by example.
